03:34 pm - Friends and Wonderlings Only

I'm sure you know how this works by now:

1) Comment to be added.
2) After a careful screening process, I may add you back!
3) Be warned, what lies behind this is not always pretty...but real life isn't pretty either.

And if we're already Friends here, you're cool ;)

December 30th, 2006

12:54 pm - 2006 Sum Up
1. What did you do in 2006 that you'd never done before?
Stayed single for a whole year (half by choice haha)

2. Did you keep your new years resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't make resolutions. So no and no.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
My co-worker Leanne and my Aunt did!

4. Did anyone close to you die?
No.

5. What countries did you visit?
U.S.A. (New York City)

6. What would you like to have in 2007 that you lacked in 2006?

It won't happen, but in wishful thinking, I'd love to have a less rigid schedule.

7. What dates from 2006 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

April 27th-May 5th 2006- New York City!
Mid July- Erin's farewell party
July 30th- Best performance of "Body and Soul"
End of July (can't recall the actual date) but Andrew, Erin and my final "hurrah" before she left for Korea.
August 9th- "Spamalot"
August 17th- Willow :)
August 25th-27th- Hi Ho the Dario's!
November 23rd- Jeff Martin show
December 22nd- Yulemas

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?

Really standing up for myself at work and not taking bullshit anymore. Knowing that it's only a part-time job made me realize that I could just go to work and not get sucked into my boss' crap (there's a mental image for ya).
Also: the MARKS I've received thus far. Holy cripes. :D

9. What was your biggest failure?
My marks for 3rd year. Ouch. Stupid Classics.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Planter fasciitis aka. the reason my foot disabled me practically all summer. Bah!

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Well, technically she was free...but the costs added up and she was/is damn worth it: Willow

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Andrew's and Erin's. Both being and doing what they want. Couldn't be more proud of them. Lauren's because she finally was accepted to MIA after 2 years of bullshit classes in college.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed, and disgusted?
No one. Depressed maybe...but they aren't worth mentioning and no, not because I want to be a peacekeeper :P

14. Where did most of your money go?
Willow, food, outings.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
New York City. Man, that was awesome, despite minor problems!
Returning to school (even though I had summer school hahaha) I kicked myself a little because it's an insane workload but really, I remain happy in school. My brain gets a good workout.

16. What song will always remind you of 2006?
Crazy- Gnarles Barkley.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder?---Happier
b) thinner or fatter?--- Fatter (or same?)
c) richer or poorer?---Poorer, definitely but THAT'll change in the new year!

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Walking, random exploration, writing (screenplays etc), falling in love with people or reaffirming my love for people.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Working. I'm a friggin' work-horse.

20. How will you be spending New Year's Eve?
I have NO idea! It's either Toronto with Jeremy or bad movies and chicken with Adam! LOL

21. Did you fall in love in 2006?
Little bit.

22. How many one-night stands?
None really. I wasn't fucked and chucked anyway hahaha

23. What was your favorite TV program?
Well, I have many. In terms of new faves: NCIS, Grey's Anatomy and Deal or No Deal.

24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Didn't hate. Never do. I hate actions, not people.

25. What was the best book you read?
'Harry Potter VI' and currently, 'Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister' is REALLY good.

26. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Credit where credit is due, Lin's recommendation of Regina Spektor.

Days off during the week when in school. Go Wednesday!!!

28. What did you want and not get?
Respect at work, more free time.

29. What was your favorite film of this year?
Oh man, there were so many. I'd have to say "DaVinci Code" was definitely one of the top 5 though.

30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I went out for dinner and drinking with friends (oh, hilarity) and I turned 21; the legal EVERYTHING.

31.What one thing would have made your year measurably more satisfying?
Sounds weird but more sex.

32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2006?
More fun/vintagey shirts! Jeans that aren't bland nor $130. Comfy shoes.

33. What kept you sane?
Music, good friends, Willow, being well fed and clothed and housed.

I'm not *that* guy.

35. What political issue stirred you the most?

37. Who was the best new person you met?
Jessica without a doubt.

02:40 pm - My heart is half-way out the door...
To answer all your questions: YES, I *am* cute and doll-like when I have curls :P

So, yesterday was the day most people celebrate the birth of that special-as-heck youngin' who saved people and such and gradually, throughout time, became the whitest person to ever live in the Middle East.
On the other hand, it is also the day we celebrate the birth of present filled trees and acting like we're happy, wonderful families. In my case, we actually pulled it off!

The day was snail-like. My dad, Colin and I actually spent most of the day sleeping/napping because we were so lethargic over the impending business to come. Mother arrived home and once everyone was awake and had "special coffee," we began to open presents.
Now, I love the way we do this: one person hands them out instead of everyone ripping into random presents (we left that up to Willow) hahaha
This is what I received:

my Silver iPod Nano (whee!) and pink case for it!
Sarah Slean's "Orphan Music" (SO happy)
Scrubs Season 4 (loving it so far! hahaha "Don't listen to him! He's DRUNK on CHEESE!")
That 70's Show Season 3
Fried Green Tomatoes (movie)
Labyrinth (movie...I was OVERJOYED. My VHS is 'dead')
Clerks and Clerks II (movies)
The Roger and Hammerstein Collection (WOW...I was shocked. It's all musicals!)
A frame from Green Earth which says "a home is not a home without a cat"
PJ sets
Random goodies for my hair, nails etc.
The MOST comfortable, soft and amazing brown throw for my bed. My bed karma is now complete.
and gift certificates and money.

The entire family had some awesome surprises and it was a good time!
Dinner was, oh gods, amazing. SO much food. No one had a second plate because we were so hungry, we simply loaded up and then became too full in typical Nesbitt fashion hahaha

All in all, it was MOST impressive.

I hope everyone had lovely celebrations themselves :)

Now I begin my week of CRAZY shifts aka. I have one day off and that's Saturday :| I haven't even started my new job yet. This sense of doom for taking on 2 jobs come the new year is definitely weighing heavily on my brain :S
I'm also contemplating whether or not a relationship is wise for the new year. Companionship and sex aside, it's not enough to sustain me....and it's too selfish to expect everything to be simple. Blah. It'll all work itself out I suppose. No use worrying about it too much now.

C'est la vie.

*kisses*

01:16 pm - Yulemas...looking back
Chronological Order of Merriment

Daytime- spent in intense preparation of cleaning and organizing in a vain attempt to secure enough space for everyone. I had very random anxious bursts because of the weather. Most of my friends live in Stoney Creek and with the rain/fog, I worry.

5ish- Adam arrived. As a watched pot never boils, he and I squirted whipped cream onto the Jello shooters and fed Willow some (because Adam's a pimp and has to have all the ladies, regardless of species, adore him) hahaha luckily for him, his tatic worked.

5:30ish- Lauren and Eric arrived. My gods, it was ages since I last saw Eric and while LJ helps me know how things are with him, it's definitely not the same. Eric has such a delightful sense of humour. I began setting the table with food shortly after their arrival. I knew immediately that I should have bought more food because pumpernickle bread is too effin' good and Lauren and I, while ladies always, could easily have mowed down on the whole thing ourselves hahaha
The jokes about the fruit plate brought by Eric were great but fruit is ESSENTIAL at any big party because it's that "if I eat a brownie with a grape it weighs out" mindset. Unless that's just me :P
We joked around and noshed while we waited for the others.

Vanessa arrived and made a DELICIOUS non-alch punch (later known as "vunch") Eric seemed horrified that it had "skin" hahaha when it was really iced yogert. Oh Eric.
The Creekers (Carrera, Danks, Sean and Hamiltonians John and Megan) arrived around 6:30 safe and sound and full of sushi and desserts. We began eating shortly afterwards so that the hot food didn't get cold.
Julie, Laura and Laura Foster, with her ENORMOUS veggie tray, showed up and immediately were told to eat while there was still food hahaha Julie made her mumma's amazing meatballs and I was jokingly pissed when I saw Laura with a box of donuts. "That isn't a FUCKING nacho platter!" hahahahhaa

Oh, I drank an intense amount of wine. In a red goblet. For serious.

7pm- Andrew, in typical Andrew fashion, arrived bringing with him exotic fruit. There was immediately a sense of glove slapping vibe coming from Eric. hahahaha (it's okay Eric, I'll take grapes and berries over comdom-esque skin fruit anyday!)
SO we ate and laughed and told dead baby jokes. Vanessa gets a trophy of AWESOME for making me retch a bit over one of them. She totally trumped my apple/dead baby joke. I was impressed.

Presents began shortly after everyone began dessert. Oh the desserts. Fudge and that ridiculous "Bark" which was sin in square form hahaha And of course, Mumma Bogle's random and yummy dessert tray.

Lauren bought me a LOVELY stone coaster/plaque about friendship. I was very touched. I bought her underroo's with PIRATES on them and a Pirate shirt which fit/she adored *whew!*

Laura and I EACH bought one another a gift certificate. HOW funny hahaha

Foster was such a sweetheart and bought me and Willow presents. Willow will never need to wonder where her next treat is coming from hahaha I was laughing SO hard over my presents because she bought me a "Gnome away from home" hahahaha if anyone knows my deep hatred/reckless teen behaviour with gnomes, you'll understand why that's funny. She also bought me a gift certificate from Chapters *yahoo!*

Andrew bought me this intensely beautiful china tea set. I collect various sets and wow, it is so beautiful. I believe I'll be having a tea party soon hahaha I bought him a frosted glass martini set. He immediately proceeded to make martinis hahahahaha

and I bought Adam a Superman T-shirt. He tells me my present is coming...I told him to bugger off.

I also received wonderful and fun cards from the girls :) I love cards. I keep most of them for AGES hahaha

Lots of pictures were taken. LOTS. 107 to be precise. I'm glad. Some of my photos with my buds were getting wrinkles :P

9pm- The party ALMOST turned into one of those frat parties where we all gather around and watch YouTube. When it got gross, we reverted back to ACTUAL merriment hahaha We made Erin's little videos!!!! The links are below this entry! Love you Erin!!!!

10ish- people began departing. I'm really hoping in the new year, I can actually, regardles of the impending stress, go out and see my friends. Damnit, I'll make time. I want you all to force this upon me :P

Those who stayed enjoyed a HILARIOUS brainstorming of Andrew's first art-house film. "Pomellow" (sp)....oh gods. It has to be made. Enough said. It'll be 10000000 times better than "Eragon" I can tell you right now!
And then "The Smiling Bajingo" (all about a talking, smoking, Swaihili speaking vagina)....Christ, we are an imaginative bunch. I wish I had videotaped that hahahaha

It slowly dwindled down to me, Andrew, Laura and Vanessa aka. the true partiers. We sang, danced, made fun of Meatloaf's "I would do anything for love" and videotaped Andrew's SciSoc dances hahahahahahahahaha Hilarity.
I love them. They helped me clean and it was SO appreciated since I was tipsy and really, really tired although I was totally prepped to clean everything myself. By the time they left, all I had were a few dishes to wash. *huge kisses*

And if you read my previous LJ, I stayed up till 3:30am REGARDLESS of my exhaustion. The wine kept me pumped enough to play with my photos and videos and of course, Willow was just pleased as shit to have her mumma back. She sought revenge by purring like crazy as I was attempting to pass the hell out at 4am hahahaha

Pictures can be found on Facebook. If you don't HAVE a Facebook, you should *get* one. If you're going to whine about it, I *guess* I could email them :P
Videos can be found by the links below to YouTube. Enjoy!

I am seriously, very seriously, blessed with wonderful friends, old and "new." Even getting reacquainted with people this year has made me feel that all things really do work out for a reason. It's made me feel happier than I have been in a long time. I've got people who love me. That's the best gift, without any corniness, of all.
